Zanskar Valley

A breath taking drive through one of of the most adventurous Himalayan roads, Penzilla Pass, 14000 ft high, Zanskar valley, Ladakh.

One of the most remotely places I have been to. Zanskar valley is a home to several Buddhist monasteries dating back 5th century.AD. Feeling the tranquility of life and nature even today after 1500 years time has made no footprints.

Sadhana

Seek and you shall find.
Is the beginning
.
.
.
Seek and you shall miss.
Is the end.

A dear friend of mine (snow man) accompanied me during my winter days in Gangotri. An ardent seeker he was, he sat in meditation motionless for months outside my kutir. Finally as summer arrived his sadhana grew to a point where he started loosing his stiffness and totally melted back into his source, the mother Ganges.

Innocence

Two kids were playing with a Rupee coin when I reached Ganga mata temple. Looking at my unusual appearance a smile of wonder and amusement gloomed over their face. As I called them for a click, with no delay they just jumped and posed for this wonderful shot.

Sat-naam Wahe Guru

A 20 km steep climb along laxman ganga is a walk of devotion. Singing and remembering the 10 Gurus, devotees make their move to Sri Hemkund Saheeb Gurudwara. Located on the bank of Hemkund lake surrounded by seven mountain peaks it is at an height of 15000 ft from sea level, Probably the highest place of worship in
India.

Photographer Swami

One morning on the way for daily brunch, I peeped in over the fence to Tapovan kutir. This blissful site was something i could have never missed clicking. Swami Sundaranand, in the morning meditation with his disciples. Swami is one of the few living Hindu monks who has so extensively walked the entire Himalayan range. A lover of art and photographt his kutir is a piece of art itself.

Mysterious Himalayas

On one of my walks to Vasukital I was surprisingly accompanied by two Himalayan dogs. Leaving me in wonder these walked like body guards all along the 16 kms trek.
High above the earths vegitation at an altitude of 13000+ fts we three were the only visible living creatures.

Vishnu Prayag

Spent a night at Laxminarayan temple located on the holy confluence of Vishnu Ganga and Bhagirathi river. 25 kms from Gangotri down the Ganges this place is called Vishnu Prayag or Harsil. One devout Doctor Mr Nagendra Rawat takes care of this 100 year old temple.

Duryodhan Temple

Surprising but true, In the remotely located Himalayan village Osla stands a temple of Duryodhan. It is said that the people here are the descendants of those who fought for Duryodhan in the war of Mahabharat, and these went in the mountains when they lost.
Untouched by the modern world, life here is very primitive, for the children a Train or an Aeroplane is a fairy-tale story of the lands far far away.
